Wednesday & Thursday 9/11 & 9/12

So on 9/11 I lit a candle at St Giles.  Richard ran off to Morningside to get someone to work on our camera and I popped into the Genealogy Society.  Sadly, I'm still at the brick wall.  Oh, George Harkness, why can't you give me any more help?!?  When Richard returned from his adventure he took the 250+ steps to the top of Scott Memorial and took some photos whilst I had to have a nail repaired that I broke the second day in London.  I also got to see the statue of Sherlock Holmes.  We then took a stroll down to Calton Hill to see The Parthenon.  Then on to Old Calton Cemetery which has a statue of Abraham Lincoln and was placed in honor of the Scottish Civil War soldiers.  While we were there when I took my first photo there was nothing extra when I came back a few minutes later and took more someone had placed a small American flag with a yellow ribbon tied to it.  May we never forget!  What a beautiful day!

9/12 (Happy birthday Charlotte) we picked up our rental car and drove out to North Berwick where we explored Tantallon Castle.  What a gorgeous site it is!  Then off to Dirleton Castle which was smaller but still a great place.  The drive back to The Big Smoke was amazing!  The stone walls, lovely little cottages in what seems like movie settings.  We have packed and are ready to depart Edinburgh to venture to Linlithgow Castle, Falkirk Wheel, Bannockburn battlefields & Stirling Castle tomorrow and then on up to Pitlochry in the evening to get a good night's rest for the Highland Games on Saturday.  We have been blessed with incredibly great weather during our stay in Edinburgh!
